Provider hosted examples

May 12, 2014 at 12:13 AM
Hi,

great stuff in the new v2.0 code. I have a question, can the provider hosted examples be converted to autohosted? I know that the autohosted feature is still in preview, I'm just interested in seeing if the examples will work if I change the Hosting type to autohosted?

thanks

Hi Terry,
that slightly depends onthe sample, but some of them should work just fine. They have not been tested for it, but in theory it should work.

In general autohosted option is still in preview and should not be used in production usage. Preview means basically that it's in beta and implementation might be still changed in future. There will be additional details on the future of the autohosted in later stage.

Setting up provider hosted app to Windows Azure for Office365 is pretty easy task, so missing autohosted is not that big a deal. You can check the detailed steps for example from following video: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vesku/archive/2013/11/25/setting-up-provider-hosted-app-to-windows-azure-for-office365-tenant.aspx.
