Automating the Creation of Document Content Types

I have been looking though the latest samples to see if I can reuse on my current on pem SharePoint 2013 SP1 project - very impressive. Incidentally, I have found it quicker to see the usage and limitations in the samples that include a word document.

One thing that isn't obvious is how I could reuse the code to automate work such as create content types or even provision sites.

Take Create a Document Content Type based on an Approval status of say a document

The options I have thought of :
  • remote event receivers - not supported in SharePoint hosted apps so I guess these are NA
  • Custom Action ( and email my users to run the action from ribbon)
  • (Sandboxed) Workflow Action
    • Timerjob
  • custom activity say in sp2013 w/fs
I guess I would ideally reuse some of the elegant examples in the Office 365 / AMS 2 samples in either an App which my users can populate and execute (creation of artefacts), or automatically as described above.

Be interested to hear everyone's thoughts or even if this a future scenario to be added to the samples.
